SLACKER!!!

Time to be honest......I've been slacking A LOT!!!! I was on such a spiritual high October-December because I had taken on the Challenge of reading the Book of Mormon. I was having so many awesome experiences and insights that I was able to share but I haven't posted for a while because like I said I have been slacking a lot! I was sad when I finished the Book of Mormon because I know how hard it is for me to read it when I haven't been challenged to read it. So lately I have been reading it but I only read a chapter per day when before I was reading at least 7 pages! I can definitely tell a difference but unfortunately it's a lot harder for me to pick it up again. Lets face it though, that's just how life is. I still find it very powerful and I am able to understand what I'm reading but I can definitely feel a difference in my spiritual level from the past couple months till now. Like I said I was on a spiritual high! But this realization has made me come to know the power of the Book of Mormon and Scriptures in General! Which is what I gave a lesson on in relief society today. As I made an effort to make it the main priority in my life I witnessed the power that it held through the insights I was having and the way it made me feel and I have realized the lack of "insights" so to say that I am not having when I don't make it a huge priority. When you don't make an effort to read the Scriptures it is hard to have full communication with Our Father in Heaven and His son Jesus Christ. Reading the Scriptures "opens up the channel to communion with our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ" Richard G. Scott. That statement is so true. The scriptures hold such power! I witnessed that through my own experiences. I find it so cool that so many things are happening when we read the scriptures sincerely! 1. You can apply the scriptures to our day 2. You can follow along with the actual stories of what is happening 3. You can receive personal revelations and answers to your questions. How cool is it that all three of those things are happening as you read the scriptures! So powerful!!!!! ANYWAY that's not what I intended to talk about in this blog post but it just kind of happened so there ya go haha. It was a long way of explaining why I haven't written anything sincere in a while. There was one thing that I wanted to mention though.

It's nothing huge but the thought just hit me. It was a while ago and I didn't write it down so I hope I can explain and remember the thoughts that I had. I was reading in Moses chapter 3. It talks about how God created the First man and a Woman a help meet for man. Vs. 25 "And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." Chapter 4 then explains How Satan tempted Eve. Eve partook of the fruit and Adam as well. When God then talks to Adam, Adam all of a sudden became afraid because he was naked so he hid himself. As I read those versus I automatically thought of how we are always told to become like little children. I kind of related these two things. Small children are not really influenced by the world yet so they are not ashamed. A lot of kids are not ashamed of who they are until they are influenced by the world. I thought of my niece Carly. Before she started kindergarten and spent most of her days at home she was not ashamed of who she was. She would dance in front of anyone and sing to anyone that would listen but since she has started to go to school and have the worldy influences she is a lot more cautious of things and is now affected by what people may think and she becomes ashamed. I don't really know where I'm going with this but those two different things just reminded me of each other. It'll be so nice when the day comes that we will have no bad influences and when we won't have to be ashamed. It'll be nice when we can finally live again in paradise and be 100% happy with who we are and not ashamed! But as of now we live in a time full of worldy things and bad influences so all we can do is strive to be our best selves and prepare for the day when all is said and done! :)
