1. Faith-
- Faith is a decision you make. It's not a feeling you have. (You DECIDE you're going to believe and then you ACT that way.)
- You don't need to be punished for mistakes you've made, you need to understand that you've been forgiven. You need to ACT as if you've been forgiven.
- Act as if you know these things are true.
2. Prayer-
Most of us start off with the wrong idea of spirituality. It doesn't have to do with people being worthy but be as people who are looking for ways to help other people. < that sentence is worded extremely weird but I can't figure out how to word it right. Hopefully it makes sense. He then goes on saying instead of praying for yourself try for one full week to just pray for things you're thankful for and then with sincerity ask "Heavenly Father, who can I help and how can I help!?" When you ask that question the Holy Ghost will guide you.
3. Sacrament-
- The Sacrament is the center!! It is the most important thing you will do during the week IF you choose to live that way.
- In Mosiah 18:19-20 It talks about Almas church. In his church they taught two things. Repentance and Faith. Repentance is following faith. Simply, the invitation to growth, progress and change. Faith on the Lord who has redeemed his people is the Atonement of Christ. The atonement is the very root of christian doctrine. Everything connects to the atonement!!
- In 3 Nephi ch.11 He showed his hand with the scar first. He commands them to get up and go forth to touch his scars. He did that so they could witness for themselves. The sacrament that we teach is our physical contact with the emblems of Christ sufferings.
I found a greater understand and appreciation for the Sacrament after his talk. He really hit the spot and made me realize what a blessing it is in our lives. It IS the physical reminder of what Christ did for us. I am so grateful for Christs love and willingness to fulfill what he needed to so that I am able to live with him and my family again. Sometimes we hate the decisions we are faced with and the temptations that are out there. But how amazing is it that we have the choice to either fall or to stand strong? Honestly it will be a HUGE accomplishment when we are all done. If it were just handed to us easy it wouldn't be a big moment at all. We wouldn't care to rejoice. Because we have agency we will REJOICE because of our hard work!! Think back to a time where you resisted a small or big temptation....How amazing did it feel?? Can you imagine when all is said and done how amazing it will feel?? We obviously can't resist every temptation though and that is why the atonement is so amazing. Even when we fall we still have a choice to either get back up or continue to fall down. The atonement doesn't work thought unless you are willing to change and have the desire to be better. This Gospel is just amazing! :)
Sounds like a great conference. Wish I could have been there (even though I am way to old) but it sounds like some things I really needed to hear right now. Thank you for sharing. Love you
